Send a photo. Or file a 311 report. Both help.

There is no upload widget here. No login. Submissions go by email so they keep an audit trail and so your photo arrives at full resolution. If you also want the District to fix the condition, you must file a 311 report -- this site does not do that for you.

Attach the photo at full resolution. Do not paste a screenshot. Do not crop license plates out. Do not edit the image. The original file lets us verify the timestamp and location.
Tell us the address. Cross-streets are fine: Georgia Ave NW & 7th St NW. Block numbers are better: 3000 block of Georgia Ave NW.
Tell us the date. The day you took the photo, in YYYY-MM-DD. If you took it weeks ago, say so.
Tell us what we are looking at, in one sentence. "Box truck stopped in eastbound crosswalk during walk phase." That is enough. We will write the entry.
If you know the rule, name it. The 40-foot intersection setback is 18 DCMR 2405.2(c). Parking on a crosswalk is 18 DCMR 2405.1(b). A vehicle blocking the sidewalk from a driveway or alley entrance is 18 DCMR 2405.1(f). PROWAG passable sidewalk width is 48 inches. We will check it.

Submitting a photo here puts the violation on the public record. Filing a 311 report is what tells the District to send someone. Both. Not one or the other.

Required for repair

Pick the category by what DDOT has to fix, not by the driver. A parking sign that authorizes parking into the daylighting zone is Roadway Signs. A curb marking or parking box that needs cutting back -- or pylons, flex-posts, or bollards to hold a corner open -- is Roadway Markings / Pylons. A closed or broken sidewalk or curb ramp is Sidewalk Repair. Do not file it as "Parking Enforcement": that just tickets a driver who parked exactly where the sign permitted, and the corner stays dangerous.

Save the service request number. Photograph it. If you submit to us, include the SR number in your email and we will note it on the entry.

// 03What not to send

Photographs where the violation is not the subject. If we cannot tell what is wrong from the frame, we cannot publish it.
Photographs of identifiable bystanders or children's faces. Crop them out before you send, or we will not run it.
Crashes in progress. Call 911. We are not the right place.
A grievance against a specific named person. The plate is the subject of accountability, not the human being who owns it.
Anything you did not photograph yourself unless the original photographer is the one emailing.

// 04Other ways to help

Tell your ANC commissioner. Show up to a DDOT public meeting. Read the Vision Zero Action Plan and ask why the milestones from 2018 are still open. None of that needs us. Do it.
