Submit a Safety Violation

Help us document safety violations throughout DC. Your photos and reports help build a comprehensive record that can be used to prioritize city resources and improve enforcement.

What to Include

Photo Requirements:

  • Clear photos from multiple angles
  • Show the violation and surrounding context
  • Include street signs or landmarks when possible

Required Information:

  • Exact location (address or intersection)
  • Date and time of photo
  • Description of the safety concern
  • Type of violation (sign, parking, infrastructure)

Additional Context (if relevant):

  • Ongoing construction or temporary conditions
  • Time of day patterns (if recurring)
  • Impact on pedestrians, cyclists, or drivers
  • Previous reports to 311 or city agencies

Types of Violations to Document

Illegal Sign Placement: Signs blocking sidewalks, obstructing visibility, or placed without permits

Sightline Violations: Vehicles parked too close to intersections, crosswalks, or driveways

Infrastructure Issues: Broken sidewalks, missing curb cuts, or accessibility barriers

Privacy & Safety

Please avoid photographing people or license plates when possible. Focus on the violation itself and the safety hazard it creates. Do not put yourself in danger to document violations.
